Driftwood
2017
Watercolor on Arches 300 lb. paper
22 × 30 in.
Driftwood builds a landscape out of fragments, currents, and accumulated marks. Broad, branching bands of warm color move across the paper like wood, roots, waterways, or paths, while fields of small blue dots create a shifting atmosphere around them.
The image never settles into a single view. Instead, forms overlap, drift apart, reconnect, and move laterally across the surface. The watercolor remains fluid and transparent, but the repeated marks give the painting density and structure—a landscape remembered, mapped, and continually rearranged.
