Tiny Orange Moon

Tiny Orange Moon

18 × 24 inches, acrylic on canvas, 2026

Tiny Orange Moon grows out of my ongoing work with Corot—not as a subject to imitate, but as a point of departure. Corot’s atmospheric landscapes provide an underlying structure from which the painting moves into something less stable and more associative.

Here, landscape is assembled through layers of light, color, gesture, and fragmentary forms. A small orange moon hovers within the painting while other luminous shapes, dark trees, water-like marks, and shifting fields of violet, gray, and red move in and out of recognition. The landscape is not presented as a single view, but as an accumulation of encounters—observed, remembered, and invented.

Corot provides the beginning. The painting finds its own place.
