18 × 24 inches, acrylic on canvas
White tulips rise through a layered field of pinks, greens, ochres, and deep blues, their stems and blossoms emerging from a shifting, atmospheric space. The garden is less a fixed place than an accumulation of glimpses—flowers, shadows, passages of color, and fragments of movement. Forms appear, dissolve, and reappear, allowing the painting to move between observed landscape and abstraction.
White Tulips continues my interest in the garden as a place of continual change, where relationships between things become more important than any single view.
